Financial software giant Intuit will shut down Mint, its personal finance app, in early 2024. It plans to move users to Credit Karma, another app that Intuit acquired in 2020. Mint helps users track their financial data, including real estate and investments. Credit Karma also tracks finances, but focuses less on personal budgeting. Intuit said it will allow Mint users to transfer their data to Credit Karma. “Credit Karma is pleased to invite all Minters to continue their financial journey on Credit Karma, where they will have access to Credit Karma’s features, products, tools and services, including some of Mint’s most popular features,” Intuit said in a press release , announcing the change. Intuit recently came under fire for its other service, Turbo Tax. According to CNBC, the company had to pay $141 million to charge users for what was advertised as a free service. Now they’re under fire from Mint customers, many of whom say they have no interest in switching to Credit Karma. Credit Karma is missing some key features that drew customers to Mint. Mint, unlike Credit Karma, focuses on budgeting and maintaining healthy spending habits – creating monthly budgets and managing billing. Since there are no clear plans to add these features to Credit Karma by January, users are jumping ship. “If there’s no budgeting tool, it’s almost useless to me,” said one Reddit user.
