(Photo: Andrew Brown, KUTV)An 85-year-old man arrested for the alleged murder of his 83-year-old wife has died while in police custody.Utah County Sherriff's Office (UCSO) officials confirmed Ronald Morgan died at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo on Saturday while undergoing treatment for medical issues he experienced in jail.Morgan was arrested one day prior after allegedly admitting to the murder of his wife, Dora Webb.Majorie Hansen, 99, had lived next to the couple for a number of years. She said she was shocked to hear about the brutal murder of Webb with her husband as the named suspect."It just blew my mind. I couldn't believe it," she said.Morgan, a regular visitor to Hansen, was perceived as a gentle and kind-hearted man."He used to always come over here every day and knock and check and make sure that I was OK," Hansen said. "He always seemed like he was such a gentleman."Police responded to a residence on Friday and found Webb deceased in the bedroom of their home.They said Morgan was found covered in blood and "made the excited utterance" that he had killed his wife.According to court documents, Morgan was taken from the scene to a hospital and was cleared before he was taken to the Lehi police station to be interviewed.While being interviewed, Morgan "described strangling the victim as well as punching her and stomping on her. Ronald also described grabbing multiple items that he used to bludgeon the victim's head."While Hansen didn't know the couple well, she described them as friendly."I'd see her outside, I'd wave to her and she'd wave back", Hansen said.He was arrested for aggravated murder, a first-degree felony. Officials with the UCSO said they were treating Morgan's death as an in-custody death and was under investigation by the Officer Involved Critical Incident team.Details about the medical issues that led to his death were not initially provided.Loading ...
