Kriisa will also miss games against Monmouth, Jacksonville State, SMU, Bellarmine, St. John's, Pitt&nbsp; Drexel and either Virginia or Wisconsin. He will first be eligible to play against UMass on Saturday, Dec. 16.Kriisa's loss leaves a huge hole at point guard for an already very thin Mountaineer team. At point, WVU has freshman Jeremiah Bembry, but he did not play in last week's exhibition game against George Mason. That was not the result of any eligibility or discipline issues, and was a coach's decision.Junior Kobe Johnson, more naturally a two guard, got backup minutes at point in that game, and is now expected to be the starter in Kriisa's absence.WVU statement:In late August 2023, West Virginia University learned of a potential eligibility concern for men’s basketball transfer student-athlete Kerr Kriisa, who admitted to receiving impermissible benefits while enrolled at the University of Arizona. West Virginia worked cooperatively with the NCAA Student-Athlete Reinstatement Staff to reach an appropriate resolution. As a result of his actions, Kriisa will miss nine (9) 2023-2024 regular season games as part of his eligibility reinstatement. Kriisa will be able to continue to practice and travel with the team during his suspension from competition.
