People with or without insurance will be tested free of charge. Those with insurance will not be charged a copay.&nbsp;The antibody test determines only whether a person has been exposed to the virus and provides broader information on how many people have been infected. Some of them may not have displayed symptoms.A different test is needed to determine whether a person currently has COVID-19. Starting&nbsp;, the city will have those tests available free of charge for residents.&nbsp;The MedRite site's&nbsp;manager, Simcha Abraham, said it opened Thursday.&nbsp;The company also has testing sites in Rockland County, Manhattan, Brooklyn and Miami&nbsp;Beach.Abraham said the process can take less than 15 minutes, depending on the lines at the facility.&nbsp;"You get results in about two days," he said.&nbsp;&nbsp;COVID-19 testing:More testing sites:After forms are filled out, blood is drawn and is sent to&nbsp;labs such as Quest Diagnostics or Empire&nbsp;City Laboratories.Nicauris Lora, who is the public health nurse for Clifton, said the data collected is key for health officials to understand the virus."It gives them a better perspective," she said.For one thing, examining the data will give them a better grasp on how contagious the coronavirus is, she said.The project came together after local real estate agent Joseph Steiner and MedRite got together and decided to open a location. The property is owned by Lara Schulman, Steiner said.&nbsp;Story continues below the gallerySteiner said the site's opening was facilitated by Mayor Hector Lora&nbsp;and City Council President and Assemblyman Gary Schaer. Schaer said he helped by getting the state to expedite approvals."It is for the public good, without question," Schaer said. "It is good for the city, Passaic County and the state of New Jersey."&nbsp;It also aligns with the governor's goals of determining the extent of the virus's reach within the state, he said.The site is open to all New Jersey residents Sunday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.&nbsp;and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday it is closed.
