The cinema will screen a new movie every Friday this month, with Halloween as the final movie on Oct. 31.“We try to get a wide range of your classics, your old repertoire stuff and then some more obscure films or maybe films that haven't been on the big screen before,” says Mike Klassen, assistant manager.The first movie — The Exorcist — will play at the theatre on Friday on the 50th anniversary of the film’s premiere. This also coincides with the release of the new movie Exorcist: Believer.The Exorcist, one of the premiere horror films of the 1970s and Oscar winning movie for Best Sound and Best Adapted Screenplay in 1974, has been cemented as one of the most popular horror films of all time.The film will be presented in 35mm, meaning it will be shown using celluloid film, rather than a regular digital screening.Horror at the Hyland started in 2021 as a way to get people back into the Hyland Cinema after the pandemic.“The theatre itself is really cool, it has a nostalgic retro feel to it,” says Klassen. “You’re going to get a much more personal experience coming to the theatre than if you go to the ‘plexes’ we’ll call them, because we’re an independent business so it’s a little different that way.”&nbsp;Horror at the Hyland begins this Friday, with each showing starting at 9:30 p.m..
