And six Welsh chippies have made the final cut and are in the running to be the UK's best having made it into the top 40. On Thursday, October 5, the National Federation of Fish Friers announced who its finalists were ahead of the National Fish And Chip awards, which are set to take place next February at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London. These finalists for Fish &amp; Chip Takeaway of the Year 2024 announced were decided on after a judging panel made up of the industry’s ‘a-fish-onados’ examined these chippies on the likes of environmental issues, product knowledge and their responsibilities as an employer - amongst other things. Speaking of the awards and its finalists this year, the president of the National Federation of Fish Friers, Andrew Crook, said: “The calibre of entries for the National Fish and Chip Awards 2024 have been nothing short of fantastic and we are proud of all the eateries that clearly put in huge amounts of effort to be considered for the accolade. However, we’ve selected an exceptional shortlist that showcases the unwavering passion, dedication and excitement that the fish and chip industry brings to British culture.” The Welsh finalists in the running to be crowned best fish and chip shop in the UK are as follows: After hearing the news that they had been selected as one of the UK's best chippies, Posh Fish and Chip Company in Cardiff wrote on its Facebook page: "We are beyond excited to announce we have been named as one of the TOP 40 finalists in the @nfff_uk Fish and Chip Takeaway of the Year. Looking forward to the next stages of the competition over the coming weeks." Finneys Fish &amp; Chips in Benllech added: "We are over the moon to find out we are in the top 40 in the National Fish and Chips Award. Good luck and congratulations to all the finalists." In Machynlleth, Henninghan's were also delighted to be included and told their following: "Over the moon to announce that we are back in the National Fish &amp; Chip Awards 2024 and reached top 40 in the UK, last 6 in Wales."
