My little guy is starting his second year of preschool and he could not be more excited. I let him pick out his own backpack. He's been busy packing it up in anticipation of school starting up again. If you have any friends who are teachers, you know that many of them don't have enough in their budget for necessary supplies or those little "extras" for their classroom. As a parent, you want your kids to have everything they need to reach their fullest potential, right? That's exactly why you should give your&nbsp;child's teacher a gift like this glass jar filled with classroom supplies. You're already going to be stocking up on items from their classroom list. Why not just pick up a few extras? It only takes a few minutes to put together and it's such a thoughtful gesture.I love packaging gifts in something that can be repurposed. Wrapping paper and gift bags are lovely. However, if I'm going to spend good money on frilly gift bags, I'd rather put it towards something the recipient can use again. I saw this large glass jar and knew it would be perfect for a classroom gift. It comes with a lid (not shown) and I imagine a teacher could use it for all sorts of things!My first stop was the dollar bins. I found a few nice things for the teacher. I bought a weekly agenda, a notepad, cute pens, scented hand soap, and fancy chocolate. The best part was that each item was only a dollar or two. Next, I headed over to the back-to-school section and stocked up on school supplies.Since my little guy is in preschool, what you might purchase may be different. But, there are a few staples that are good for almost any age, like Fiskars Kids Scissors. There's a reason why these scissors are the #1 teacher-recommended brand. Their innovative safety-edge blade features a safer blade angle to protect kids while still cutting through all classroom materials. They've got a non-stick blade coating. This makes it easy to cut cleanly through materials with sticky adhesives like tape or glue!I wanted to personalize our gift a little more. Since I love a good pun, I made a few little printable hangtags to attach to some items. To hang on the ruler, I made a tag reading, "I hope I can measure up this year!". To attach to our Fiskars Kids Scissors, I made a tag saying, "Teacher, you're a cut above the rest!". I enlisted my little guy to help me assemble this gift for his teacher. I let him cut out the printed tags&nbsp;using our new Fiskars Kids Scissors.As you can see, these 5-inch Fiskars Kids Scissors are perfectly sized for little hands. I just love the new designer handles they've rolled out for the back-to-school season. My son insisted on using this cool cosmic-inspired pair. Since I'm not sure if he's going to be right or left-handed, I'm glad these scissors accommodate both. I had the darnedest time in elementary school since I'm left-handed. Trying to track down that one pair of left-handed scissors in the classroom was a task! We also have a pair of Fiskars Preschool Scissors (for ages 3+). These feature&nbsp;large finger loops and a special training lever that opens the blades after each cut.In the interest of full disclosure, I'll admit that I let him practice cutting out the tags. But, since I'm a perfectionist I printed out another set. I grabbed the 7-inch&nbsp;Fiskars Kids Scissors and went to town. Then, I cut a little slit in the top and attached them to the items in the jar with baker's twine. Here's a tip: print the tags on heavy-duty paper or card stock&nbsp;so they aren't flimsy.&nbsp;To print these tags, simply CLICK HERE and save the full-size PNG file.
