(WJAR) The first New England Topgolf location opens in Cranston Friday.If you drive on Route 37 in Cranston you've probably watched the massive structure go up over the last few months.The $40-million dollar development has three floors, 102 hitting bays and a three-story food and beverage operation.A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday morning. NBC 10's Katie Benoit was there and asked Mayor Ken Hopkins if he thought the area can handle the new traffic? "Oh absolutely. I mean when Citizen's bank was here there we over 3,000 cars on a daily basis. Coming in and out of this area and they didn't have the infostructure we have now," said Mayor Hopkins. Mayor Hopkins says there will be three entrances to get to top golf, adding a majority of people will be coming to play golf on nights and weekends. "You can come up and off Reservoir Avenue and go right through Chapel View. Maybe stop and do some shopping on the way in. You can come in through Sockanossset Cross Road there is a side entrance," said the mayor. The third entrance is a new road from Route 37 at Pontiac Avenue, leading right to Topgolf but it's not done yet.RIDOT says it’s part of the job and is expected to wrap up on Tuesday. Then Topgolf will be paving their end.The entire project is expected to be done by the end of the week.For golfers should expect fluctuating prices. Depending on the time of day, rates range from $40 to $62 dollars an hour, per hitting bay.They're climate-controlled for any rainy or snowy days and can comfortably fit about six people.The director of operations says they have games for everyone from beginners to experts.Loading ...
