Skip to contentAre you enjoying fall so far? I know for some of you it is still rather warm and for others, it’s well into the cooler temps. We’re having a few warmer fall days this week, and it’s been just beautiful.I’ve enjoyed figuring out&nbsp;how to decorate bookshelves for a simple fall look&nbsp;this year. In this picture, you can see that I kept my white tobacco basket in the same spot. It makes such a pretty background, I decided to use it for my fall look as well. I grabbed my Ikea pitcher&nbsp;from my buffet in the kitchen and added the silver dollar eucalyptus. I purchased the brass acorn last year.&nbsp;Above that,&nbsp;a brass pumpkin tops a couple of books that are paired with ironstone pitchers.&nbsp;I purchased this lantern a while back. Inside, there is a small piece of driftwood with shells glued to it and mini lights strung around. It’s so pretty lit up and adds nice ambient lighting on the shelves. I paired the lantern with a cotton pod to finish it off.I pull out my black and white pictures in the fall and use them through the winter months. The above picture is of the&nbsp;Ghost Fleet&nbsp;of old abandoned fishing boats in Manteo, NC. I purchased that picture years ago at a decoy show. Beside the picture is a glass pumpkin I took and filled with little orange mini pumpkins. On the shelf above, I took a basket placed a deer antler in it and filled it with pinecones.&nbsp; On the bottom shelf, I added some knobby starfish to the oblong blue bowl draped with wooden beads.Here’s a close up&nbsp;of the basket of pinecones. The antler peeking out adds a little more interest than just pinecones alone would. I propped this little sand star up against the basket for more visual interest.I put my&nbsp;brass vase next to the large fishing boat picture. When I purchased this fishing boat picture the photographer told me that he didn’t even realize he had captured a seagull sitting on the piling until the image was coming to life in his dark room. Do you see him?I brought out my vintage Underwood typewriter to display on one of the shelves. The brass vase, pumpkin, and acorn and the tan basket of pinecones add an element of warmth to the look.&nbsp; Overall, I kept the coastal farmhouse look using different items for a fall look. You see here how nice the cotton pod, antlers, pumpkins, ironstone, and seashells can look together. Placed in the right places they give a cohesive look even though they are far from being similar.I especially like how the bookshelves look inside with the evening light. I tried to capture that in this image so that you can get a feel for what they look like that time of the day. Some of these pictures were taken at odd angles because I was trying to avoid the glare. As you can see it was impossible (see the glare of the vase in the fishing boat picture above). We have almost 8 feet of windows in the same room as the bookshelves.
