To enjoy the final warm evenings of the season, I set a casual and inviting outdoor table for my family. I’ve got some simple ideas to help you enjoy an outdoor meal or two before the summer is over.To soften and cozy up the hard surfaces of the patio, I placed an outdoor rug under the table.&nbsp; It defines the dining space on our patio and feels nice under bare feet.&nbsp;I placed a soft throw on the wood bench.&nbsp; A cushion on the bench would be wonderful as well. Linen slipcovers on the chairs add texture and coziness. Blue throw pillows add a pop of color to the mostly neutral setting.The mix and match seating adds a causal vibe. I used a bench, metal cafe chairs and a pair of thrifted wicker chairs with linen slipcovers at each end of the table.&nbsp;&nbsp;You can never go wrong with simple white dinner plates and bowls.&nbsp; It’s an easy way to set a table and they always look elegant and classic. Last week on the blog, I talked about what I buy at thrift stores, and simple white dishes are something I always look for. I found this set years ago, and I love them.I used linen placemats under each setting with mix and match neutral napkins tucked under each bowl. Simple stemware completes the relaxed place setting.&nbsp;Lanterns with candles are perfect for an outdoor table, especially if there is a breeze. No worrying about the candles blowing out.&nbsp; I laced a string of inexpensive cafe lights through the spokes of the umbrella for overhead lighting and a bit of twinkle in the evening.&nbsp; They are so pretty!Fresh herbs add a wonderful fragrance to a summer table. I picked up a few small pots of mint, oregano, thyme and lavender from Trader Joe’s, and casually placed them around the table. As an added bonus, you can use the herbs in your food or drinks.&nbsp;&nbsp;I also created an arrangement of white roses in a vase with lots of texture.I like to have a few simple bites on the table to nosh before dinner.&nbsp; I used a marble server for a small bit of brie, a few crackers and some almonds.&nbsp; Fresh or dried fruit would be a nice addition, too.Chilled white wine is the perfect no fuss drink on a warm summer evening. Sparkling lemonade is a great non-alcoholic option, too.&nbsp;Our special guest for the evening is our sweet little hen Hildie.
