Compared to other name brands FBTs are lighter in weight with medium length which makes them very comfortable and don’t snag against the leg when kicking like longer shorts do once they start to cling the skin with sweat – too short is bad to since they look like embarrassing throwbacks to the 70s. I’ve owned other brands like Twins, Fairtex, and Thaismai but these didn’t last as long as my FBT shorts even though they were made of heavier fabric. my conclusion is the durability of shorts does not depend on fabric weight but instead on fabric strength and stitch quality. FBT makes a full range of athletic wear so they have a lot of experience in this field. They have some really slick designs.Siam Tops? My favorite battle shorts for a long time were split red-blue ones from twins with 3 stripes at each side, simple design, always right no matter what corner, but now a lill worn out, cant get them any more 🙁For training I actually prefer old adidas sprinter shorts from the 80s, bought some of them at ebay when they still were cheap. They have a nice covered slit on each side, so that practising kicks is no problem. Very cool looking, match the body line, extremly comfy, almost undestroyable, in summer I wear them all the time, just put a tank top on and flip flops or sneakers and u have the perfect vintage look. Just no good for sparrng or combat, they come with a slip inside. By the way, they were very popular training shorts with Thai boxers in Thailand when adidas still was producing them.
