The report did not identify the inmate or where he had been held.Brame was among those especially vulnerable to the respiratory disease because he had underlying serious health conditions. He was 52.The jail Thursday had more than 600 state and federal inmates. It is paid by the U.S. government to hold inmates charged in Oklahoma City federal court.At least one other federal inmate and some detention officers also have been infected, The Oklahoman has learned. The outbreak at the jail has resulted in delays in some criminal cases.A judge Monday delayed for a month a sentencing in an explosives case after a defense attorney reported being notified by the jail that federal inmates will not be transported to the federal courthouse "due to quarantine issues as a result of positive COVID-19 tests."Brame was sent to state prison in 2009 for burglary. Prosecutors alleged in that case he hired five people to break into a house in Meeker and assault his ex-wife in 2004. They instead killed his former mother-in-law. He was charged at one point with first-degree murder but was sentenced to 20 years on the burglary offense under a plea bargain.From prison, he and other Irish Mob leaders used smuggled cellphones to coordinate an elaborate drug-trafficking operation that brought methamphetamine from Mexico to Oklahoma for distribution, a federal grand jury alleged in a 2018 indictment.Brame pleaded guilty in December to conspiring to traffic drugs and conspiring to launder the proceeds from the illegal sales.Jailers said Thursday the other inmate and detention officers have recovered."We're just like America, and the world. Last time I checked, it's everywhere," a jail captain, Jason Carpenter, said.
