Get helpPrivacy PolicyPassword recoveryRecover your passwordyour emailA password will be e-mailed to you.LIMERICK City centre is set to get its first ever Aldi store as the retailer announced today (Thursday) that they had broken ground on the site of what will be their most central store in the Treaty.The German retailer announced that they’ve broken ground on the Roches Street set to become Limerick city centre’s first Aldi store, which is expected to open in 2025.The Roches Street store will create 90 jobs and support a further 200 during the construction phase.The move is part of a €36.6 million investment in Limerick, with the retailer also confirming their intention to open two further stores in Dooradoyle and Moyross.The planning applications for the Dooradoyle and Moyross stores are currently before An Bord Pleanála following appeals.According to Aldi, the delays caused by the appeals cost Limerick shoppers €156,666 in potential savings forgone every single month.Colin Breslin, Managing Director, Buying and Services at ALDI Ireland, said: “I’m delighted to announce details of our plans to expand our footprint in Limerick, as we look to continue delivering our unbeatable value to communities in Moyross, Dooradoyle, and the city centre.”“Our goal is to deliver this value within reach of every town, village and rural community in Ireland, and we have ambitious plans to expand our store network,” he said.“Over the next two years, we plan to open three new stores across Limerick, as part of a €36.6 million investment, alongside our previously announced Midlands, Dublin, and West of Ireland expansion plans.
