The 37-year-old clerk is married to Monica Madin, Parsippany's municipal prosecutor, who owns a Morristown law firm with her husband.&nbsp;Khaled Madin&nbsp;is expected to decide on a plea offer from Morris County prosecutors&nbsp;this month after allegedly forcing himself into the woman’s apartment in Parsippany in February.Court documents say Madin threw his victim&nbsp;against the floor, walls and furniture and that there was a child present at the time.&nbsp;While reporting that incident to police, the woman also&nbsp;accused Madin of choking her until she blacked out during an argument in July 2019.Neither Khaled nor Monica Madin responded to messages seeking comment this week. Peter Koerella, Parsippany’s public information officer, said Mayor Michael Soriano and township officials will not comment on ongoing court cases.&nbsp;Police seized Khaled&nbsp;Madin’s handgun during the February arrest and recovered a 15-round, .40-caliber magazine, according to court documents.Parsippany:Coronavirus:Madin is seeking admission into the state’s Pretrial Intervention Program, which allows first-time offenders to avoid a criminal record by completing rehabilitation under court supervision.Prosecutors are asking that&nbsp;he&nbsp;complete the program, serve probation&nbsp;and&nbsp;permanently give up his firearms and firearms purchaser&nbsp;ID card. In return, he would plead&nbsp;guilty to simple assault, criminal mischief and unlawful possession of a high-capacity magazine. An&nbsp;aggravated assault charge from the 2019&nbsp;incident would be dropped under the agreement.Peter Gilbreth, Madin’s attorney, said during a court hearing this week that his client could&nbsp;reapply for a firearms card and attempt to obtain a new handgun once his&nbsp;case has been resolved.&nbsp;But Tia Manochio, an assistant Morris County prosecutor, said the state wants Madin permanently barred from owning guns due to “the nature of the charges and the history of the case.”The victim had multiple visible injuries when she was interviewed by police in February, including a swollen lip and hip, a swollen and bruised elbow and multiple scratches and bruises on her neck, according to court documents. She told police Madin broke a door chain to get into her apartment, pulled her hair, spit in her face and broke her iPhone during the assault.Khaled Madin began working for the township in 2016 after a stint in the state Attorney General’s Office, &nbsp;newspaper. Council President Michael dePierro cast&nbsp;the sole dissenting vote&nbsp;against Madin’s appointment, arguing that the township had interviewed several certified municipal clerks&nbsp;but chose someone with no&nbsp;certifications or experience. DePierro did not respond to a request for comment this week.Then-council President Louis Valori defended the choice at the time, saying Madin was "highly qualified" with a diverse legal background. Madin himself told council members "you will see you made the right decision. I live in this town. I’m personally invested in this town."Madin is a licensed attorney and has owned the Morristown-based Madin &amp; Madin with his wife since 2015.
