There could be several reasons to do this thing, but mostly the springs of an attic ladder have the same common issues, and that’s why they needed to be prepared. These can happen to anyone.If your attic ladder is in any of these situations, you’re attic ladder spring is a ticking time bomb. So, there may be a urge to fix the thing up before it costs you big like it did me.We also wrote an article about how to get into an attic without a ladder (without being a ninja).Fixing the springs of your attic ladder is much simpler and quicker as you just need to follow the below simple steps. Plus, you will need the following tools in your hand, and you are good to go. You likely already have these.Now, just follow the steps, and things will be pretty straightforward for you!The first thing you are gonna do is to step into the attic from the upper side. When the ladder is closed, you will find the springs extra relaxed. The ladder has all the weight upside at the stowed position, so there will be no stretching and other tensions between.Moreover, you can use the stepladder instead to climb into the attic. But if you are sure that its springs are in the worst shape, standing or climbing on it could cost you an accident or a sudden injury; you shouldn’t go for that. In this case, you can use a stepladder to step into the attic or go from outside the house.You will require a spotter – call for a second hand to take help from a nearby person in order to fix the springs of the attic ladder.You will probably reach the attic safely after using the stepladder. Here, when you have made sure that you and your helper have reached inside the attic, you need to close the attic door.
