A Snyder mother is filled with regret after her triplet 9-year-old daughters were injured on a bus ride home from summer school.The incident happened on June 27, 2023. Several cameras on the bus captured the moment a Snyder ISD bus driver ran over a rough patch in the road while holding papers against the steering wheel. The bus camera recorded the bus traveling 34 miles per hour.Tanya Adams says her three daughters all suffered injuries from the incident.“The oldest one fractured her left leg,” Adams said. “The middle one had some abdominal bruising, and then the youngest one had a mild concussion from being thrown in the air and coming back down.”The mother still hasn’t watched the full video of the bus incident because she says it’s too painful.“I got two small 30-second clips, and I couldn’t even get through five seconds of both of them,” Adams said. “No one should have to see their children be hurt. Especially, with people who are supposed to be keeping them safe.”Snyder ISD gave the following statement in part:“Snyder ISD Bus 4 hit a dip in the road while transporting students home from summer school. Some students were injured, and those parents were contacted directly.”Adams said her daughters now have severe anxiety from the incident on the bus.“My daughters don’t feel safe on the school bus anymore,” Adams said. “Even when it comes to field trips, they told me they don’t want to be on the school bus.”According to the mother, Snyder ISD hasn’t checked on her daughters since the incident and the bus driver is still employed by the school district.“They gave us an insurance claim form to fill out,” Adams said. “But other than that, I haven’t heard anything, and as far as I know, the bus driver still works there.”Attorney Derek Potts of Potts Law Firm says they are asking for Snyder ISD to take accountability.“There obviously needs to be something done so that their drivers who know they’re being videotaped are not comfortable texting and taking their hands off the wheel when transporting children,” Potts said. “They have policies. They just need to enforce them.”Snyder ISD went on to say in their response:“The incident was reported to the Scurry County Sheriff’s Office, and we cooperated with them during their investigation. Ensuring the safety of both our students and staff, to, from, and while at school remains our top priority. We have no additional information to release about the incident at this time.”Loading ...
