At least eight people were arrested but only the names and mugshots of four of them were released.The other suspects could be juveniles.Four of the people arrested were Fernando Barron,17, Jorge Bejarano,18, Isaiah Olguin,17, and Christian Roberto Ramirez, 18.At this time it's unknown if the four suspects are students at Canutillo HS or if they came from other schools. They each have a $15,000 bond.They're accused of starting or taking part in a string of fights that broke out in late September. A video shared on social media shows a teacher had to break up one of those fights.The Canutillo Independent School District confirmed some of the fights that happened involved students claiming to be part of a new gang.Canutillo ISD police and administration said they are actively collecting information about the gang.RECOMMENDED: Canutillo High School faces safety concerns amid gang-related student fights, parents call for actionRECOMMENDED: Non-profit calls for volunteer patrols at Canutillo High School following school fights; investigated as gang-relatedCanutillo ISD police also arrested some juveniles who were charged with misdemeanor assault charges. “Thanks to the hard work of our police officers, as well as the administration and teachers at Canutillo High School, we are now able to bring to justice those students who placed others in danger,” said Superintendent Dr. Pedro Galaviz. “We hope to never have to resort to criminal charges for incidents happening in one of our schools, but we also know that holding people accountable is necessary when it comes to the safety of our students and staff.” Galaviz added that the four individuals identified and arrested are now in a gang task force database. Canutillo High School officials said they have increased police presence and teachers and school administrators are monitoring the hallways.
