THE JUDGE GAVE TIVAL LAMPKINS DAVIS FIVE YEARS PROBATION FOR BEING AN ACCESSORY. HE SPOKE TO CARLY WOOD’S FAMILY FOR THE FIRST TIME, SAYING HE’S SORRY FOR WHAT HAPPENED TO HER. HER FAMILY JUST WISHES HE’D TELL POLICE WHAT REALLY HAPPENED THAT NIGHT. TABLE LAMPKINS DAVIS AVOIDS A PRISON SENTENCE WEDNESDAY INSTEAD GETTING FIVE YEARS PROBATION. HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS REJOICE OUTSIDE THE COURTROOM. HIS ATTORNEY SAYS IT’S A JUST PUNISHMENT. HE SHOULD BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT HE DID. BUT HE’S NOT ONE OF THE SHOOTERS IN THIS CASE. HE DIDN’T PULL THE TRIGGER AND HE DIDN’T CONTRIBUTE TO THAT LAMPKINS DAVIS WAS FOUND GUILTY ON CHARGES INCLUDING BEING AN ACCESSORY TO A FELONY. THE NIGHT 20 YEAR OLD CARLY WOOD DIED IN A MASS SHOOTING LAST NOVEMBER. MY SISTER WAS SHOT EIGHT TIMES, EIGHT. LIKE I WANT EVERYONE TO SIT THERE AND THINK ABOUT WHAT THAT MIGHT FEEL LIKE. AND IT’S TRAGIC AND IT’S SCARY. BUT THAT’S THE REALITY OF THE WORLD WE LIVE IN, AND I DON’T WANT ANYONE TO DOWNPLAY IT. LAMPKINS DAVIS APOLOGIZED TO CARLY WOOD’S FAMILY, SAYING HE’S NOT A VIOLENT PERSON. WOOD’S MOM SAYS TO TRULY BE SORRY FOR HER DAUGHTER SHE WISHES HE WOULD TESTIFY AGAINST THE OTHER MEN CHARGED IN THE CASE. AND CARLY BEING SHOT WITH THREE GUNS. SO LAMPKINS DAVIS’S ATTORNEY SAYS HIS CLIENT WAS DRUNK ONLY AT THE PARTY FOR 15 MINUTES AND WAS ALSO SHOT THAT NIGHT. HE JUST DOESN’T HAVE A GOOD MEMORY OF WHAT HAPPENED IN THAT ROOM. IS IS A DARK ROOM. HE WASN’T IN THERE FOR VERY LONG AND HE JUST HE JUST DOESN’T KNOW WHAT HE DOESN’T KNOW. ALSO TODAY, KIWANE DAMPIER WAS CONVICTED OF SEVERAL WEAPONS CHARGES CONNECTED TO THE MASS SHOOTING. PROSECUTORS BELIEVE IMHOTEP DAVIS FIRED THE SHOT THAT KILLED KARLY WOOD. HE GOES TO TRIAL FOR SECOND DEGREE MURDER NEXT MONTH ON THE ONAdvertisementOne of suspects accused in mass shooting that killed 20-year-old Omaha woman sentenced to probationOne of the suspects accused in a mass shooting that killed a 20-year-old woman in Omaha won't serve any jail time, while another was convicted for his role in the murder Wednesday.Tyvel Lampkin-Davis was sentenced to five years probation for his role in Karly Wood's death.Lampkin-Davis was charged with gun possession on school property and accessory to a felony.His attorney says it's a just punishment."He should be accountable for what he did, but he's not one of the shooters in this case. He didn't pull the trigger and he didn't contribute to that," Keith Dornan said.Wood's sister wants people to remember all the positive qualities about Karly while acknowledging the truth about how she was killed."My sister was shot eight times. Eight. Like, I want everyone to sit there and think about what that might feel like, and it's tragic and it's scary, but that's the reality of the world we live in, and I don't want anyone to downplay it," Autumn Wood said.Kiwan Dampeer was found guilty of possession of a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm at an inhabited house, occupied building or occupied motor vehicle, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony and unlawful possession of a firearm on school grounds in Wood's death.Investigators said at least 14 rounds were fired into a party near 33rd Street and Ames Avenue in November 2022. Wood was killed and nine others were injured, including Imhotep Davis, who is charged with first-degree assault in her death.According to court documents, DNA found on Imhotep Davis' gun also linked Lampkin-Davis to the case.Lampkin Davis apologized to Wood's family in court, saying he's not a violent person. Wood's mom says to truly be sorry for her daughter, she wishes he would testify against the other men charged in the case."Karly being shot with three guns, there's still two guys out there running around who murdered someone," Amber Wood said."I think forgiveness is for those who have earned it, and if you're not willing to talk about what happened that night, you haven't earned any forgiveness in my mind," Autumn Wood said.Lampkin-Davis says his client was drunk, only at the party for 15 minutes and was also shot that night."He just doesn't have a good memory in that room. It was a dark room, he wasn't in there for very long.
