Skip to contentIf you are new to the blog, welcome. &nbsp;You have reached an archived &nbsp;free pattern. &nbsp;We typically put up new blog post twice daily so there is always something new and fresh here. &nbsp;Click&nbsp;HERE&nbsp;and see what’s new today…You might remember, some time earlier this year Kelli and I have a quilt that was featured in Quilty magazine. &nbsp;I think it was the January/February issue. &nbsp;Here’s a picture of that quilt. &nbsp;We had used the Moda fabric line Wren’s Friends. &nbsp;Both Kelli and I loved the fabric.When we sewed our version we made it and saved the bonus triangles. &nbsp;You can see them all boxed up waiting for inspiration. &nbsp;Well one day, inspiration struck.I took all those triangle pieces and created this…a beautiful 45 1/2″ x 45 1/2″ baby quilt.I have to say, it’s once of my favorite projects that I have recently done.It’s quite unusual for me, typically I draw what I am hoping to create on the computer before I begin sewing. &nbsp;This time everything was dictated by the size and the left over fabric that I had. &nbsp;I wanted to use up everything that I could. &nbsp;The star had to be brown as that is what I had an amount of fabric from. &nbsp;The star had to have a four patch in the middle because I didn’t have enough of any one fabric to make the star all the same color. &nbsp;These challenges made working on this quilt lots of fun.I quilted it with brown thread. &nbsp;That was a debate on my part. &nbsp;If the quilting is successful the contrasting color typically looks really good..but it the quilting is bad, there is no hiding it.In the end, I am very happy with it. &nbsp;In fact, I wish you could all see it in person. &nbsp;It’s some of the best quilting I feel I’ve done.I am adding a link to the Youtube video that shows how to do the free motion quilting.
