Willow Drive who passed along a profane email urging the health department to “END. THE LOCKDOWN. NOW. Or face severe consequences.”Tri-County Health’s extended stay-at-home order — covering Adams and Arapahoe counties, but not Douglas County — will expire Friday night. Tri-County officials have announced , and will shift to the statewide beginning Saturday.The text of the email released by police Wednesday: “I know you’re the receptionist and not responsible for these edicts… but tell the 9 petty tyrants who want to keep locking most of Colorado down to (expletive) OFF. ‘We the people’ are DONE with this (expletive) (expletive), and you’re about to start a hot-shooting no (expletive) civil war. END. THE LOCKDOWN. NOW. Or face severe consequences.”Gov. Jared Polis was asked about the threat at the state Capitol. He likened safety restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic to enforcement of health codes at restaurants, which, for example, can be shut down over hepatitis C outbreaks.“Threatening a civil war over decals on the floor of the store telling you where to stand in the takeout line is really offensive to anyone who supports the freedoms and liberties that we enjoy in this country,” he said.The governor stressed that most Coloradans have been supportive of the state’s coronavirus restrictions — a sentiment echoed — and urged everyone to keep taking protective measures, including wearing facial coverings when going into businesses.The Tri-County Health Department’s Board of Health has , but has not ordered it across the counties it covers.“For the few Coloradans who feel that their liberties are being threatened, I ask them to also exercise their own personal responsibility to protect themselves, their families and others, whether you agree or disagree with counties that want you to wear masks in stores and have required that,” Polis said. “It’s important as a matter of responsibility, whether you , to wear a mask when you’re around others.”&nbsp;&nbsp;We invite you to use our commenting platform to engage in insightful conversations about issues in our community.
