They stipulate that any player who wishes to change at the arena will do so in a closed washroom stall inside the changeroom."All participants have the right to utilize the dressing room or appropriate and equivalent dressing environment based on their gender identity, religious beliefs, body image concerns, and/or other reasons related to their individual needs." - Hockey Canada spokesperson Esther MadziyaThe rule comes as a way to promote inclusivity in the changeroom and make everyone feel comfortable no matter their identity, religion, or other mental health factors.Hockey Canada also stated that the rule will be enforced by local coaches and staff members, who will also be required to inform parents of the rule change. One coach spoke about his favourable view of the rule change."This isn't just about gender, it's about everyone being comfortable.
