They come together really quick and look so cute used as table centerpieces, candy cane holders, or even a simple family activity idea holder.I just love how cute painted mason jars look, so I wanted to make up some new ones for our Christmas decorating this year.Instead of using plain painted jars I wanted to dress them up just enough that they would look Christmassy but still keep the focus on whatever I decided to put inside of the jars.If you love rustic mason jar crafts you are going to love this easy craft idea!I was inspired by some cute burlap ribbon that I found at our local dollar store. It was about 2-inch wide burlap but had a pretty white lace ribbon running down the center of it.I knew as soon as I saw it how cute it would look wrapped around the center of my mason jars.ContentsStart by picking out 3 quart-sized mason jars, then wipe the outsides down with rubbing alcohol to remove any oils from your hands.Even though the jars may look clean your hands transfer oils when you touch glass that can make it harder for the paint to stick.Now it’s time to have fun painting your mason jars! You can use any paint color you like, make them all the same color or mix them up. I made a set by painting each jar a different Christmas color or red, green and white.I love using chalk paint because it doesn’t need priming and sticks to the glass really well!Hold the jar on its side with your fingers inside of it (or use a wooden dowel) and paint the sides and rim of the jar. Then place the jar upside down on some parchment and paint the bottom.Leave the jars to sit until they have dried and then do a second coat if needed. I find that darker colors are good with 2 coats while the white chalk paint often needs 3 thin coats.Take your burlap ribbon and cut a length that fits around the mason jar so that it just overlaps a little.Then place the ribbon around the mason jar and hot glue the end down. Then place a little hot glue over top of that end and wrap the other end of the ribbon over top of it and hold down until set.If you like you can also add some burlap twine around the tops of the jars, but I thought they were super cute the way they were.There are so many ways you could use these simple jars to decorate your home for the holidays.They look beautiful when filled with Christmas greenery picks and used as a table centerpiece.I like using shorter greenery picks for centerpieces so that they don’t block the view from across the table.
