Investigators with the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations arrested Schade on Friday. He is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.The girl, who lives in Greeley, Colorado, told police that she connected with Schade on March 10 on the Snapchat app, where he identified himself as “Dave S.”, according to an affidavit written by Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigator David Frattare.The pair texted and talked by phone, as well as video chat, during the next few weeks, according to the affidavit. The girl told Schade she was 13 years old and he told her he was a counselor and therapist who worked with young children, the affidavit states.While they talked, the girl told him her father sexually abused her, a statement she later told police was false, Frattare wrote. Schade then threatened to call police if the girl did not send him sexually explicit images. The girl complied, sending images and a video via Snapchat, according to the affidavit.Schade continued to threaten the girl and her family, even sending screenshots of her house and tell her he was going to travel to Colorado to harm her brother and father, the girl told police, according to the affidavit.On April 2, Schade called Weld County, Colorado Child Protective Services and made an anonymous complaint where he said the girl’s father abused her, Frattare wrote. He called Greeley police six days later and made a similar report, saying he counseled the girl via Snapchat, the affidavit states.Greeley police interviewed the girl and searched her phone, finding messages exchanged with Schade, his phone number and pictures of him on it, according to Frattare.Ohio investigators started talking to Schade on Snapchat on Tuesday while posing as a 15-year-old girl, according to the affidavit. Schade provided his cellphone number and his voice matched messages he sent to the girl in Colorado, authorities say.Investigators searched his apartment on Friday, and Schade admitted to using Snapchat to talk to the girl in Colorado, according to the affidavit. He denied asking for naked images or videos from her.
