When customers would ask why their home improvement projects weren't happening, Hansen would blame supply chain issues, a lack of workers and health issues.Hansen's wife, Jennifer Hansen, 43, also pleaded guilty Wednesday to a money laundering charge. The duo tried to conceal the money Hansen collected from customers by depositing checks into business bank accounts and then transferring the money to personal accounts.The fraud scheme ran from at least October 2020 and September 2022, officials said, leaving victims out tens of thousands of dollars. Hansen admitted, as part of the plea agreement, to regularly changing the name of his business to avoid the negative publicity associated with him.Fox 47's news partner News 3 Now's Call for Action team received dozens of complaints about Hansen and his companies, and negative reviews stacked up online and with the Better Business Bureau.Hansen's legal woes extend beyond a federal courtroom; dozens of cases were filed against him in counties across southern Wisconsin, online court records show. Under the terms of the plea agreement, Hansen and the justice department agreed that "it is their expectation that criminal charges brought in Wisconsin state courts against the defendant based on the same set of facts as contained in the information will be dismissed."During a court appearance in Dane County in January, Hansen expressed remorse, telling a judge he was working to pay restitution to his customers.Tyler Hansen's sentencing in the federal case has been scheduled for Dec. 19, while Jennifer Hansen is set to be sentenced on Dec. 13.Loading ...
