By | Due process is making a huge comeback in 2020 thanks to Tara Reade.The Democrats, once the party of “Believe All Women,” have now quickly morphed into the party of “Believe Some Women.”Reade is not the first victim of a liberal double standards by any means, but her allegation has put the left’s blatant hypocrisy on full display.By accusing Democratic front-runner Joe Biden of rape, Reade has shed light on the two very different roads a sexual assault victim might travel down.One road is far more accommodating. Just ask Christine Blasey Ford. In 2018, Ford accused now Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of raping her at a party when they were in high school. Though she couldn’t remember some important specifics, the Democrats didn’t care. Ford immediately gained unfettered support from the mainstream media and politicians such as Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. Soon, Ford’s fervent supporters were demanding her voice be heard. And was it ever.There was an FBI investigation, televised hearings, and high school yearbook examinations. Ford’s picture appeared on the cover of magazines, while news sites wrote glowing pieces about the woman who might take down Kavanaugh. One Huffington Post headline read, “Dr. Christine Blasey Ford Is An American Hero.”Ford’s story was heard around the country, yet a problem arose.Many of the people listening, even those who desperately wanted to support her, couldn’t get themselves to completely abandon their logic.Sane people knew that destroying Kavanaugh’s life over his love of beer and a very vague story was a dangerous precedent to set.Then the left’s demands changed. It wasn’t that Ford must be heard — no, that wouldn’t cut it. Now, it was that Ford must be believed.Fast forward to today. Tara Reade is traveling down a very different road. Despite accusing Joe Biden of rape, the media coverage is astoundingly minimal.Not only can Reade remember more detail of her alleged assault, but she actually worked for Joe Biden when he was a Senator. If Ford had provided even a fifth of the corroborating information that Reade has, Kavanaugh would be sitting in a prison cell.As Reade’s allegation begins to put Biden in the hot seat, a forgotten legal principle is suddenly in vogue again — the presumption of innocence is back! Let me be clear: I am happy about the abrupt shift back to constitutional norms. I’m just bummed that “innocent until proven guilty” wasn’t as popular when CNN and MSNBC were maligning Kavanaugh in the court of public opinion.Alyssa Milano, who went on Chris Cuomo’s show to defame Kavanaugh, has recently said of the Biden accusation, “I don’t feel comfortable throwing away a decent man that I’ve known for 15 years.”I wonder if Brett Kavanaugh’s wife or his mother or his daughters were “comfortable” with Alyssa Milano and her celebrity friends throwing away someone they cared about.Mika Brzezinski interviewed Joe Biden on Friday and asked him about the accusations. In typical Biden fashion, he stumbled through an awkward and nonsensical answer. Mika later tweeted, “the notion that all women are to be believed, which dominated the Kavanaugh hearings, was revisited. Should it be? Were Democrats wrong THEN or now?”The question is dishonest because it implies that Mika and her fellow Democrats care about being wrong. They don’t. They did not try to ruin Brett Kavanaugh because they thought they were doing the right thing. Their aggressive takedown of a decent man’s reputation was for sheer political gain, and they knew it. Now, as the tide turns on Democrats, they are pretending to rethink the morality of their actions.When a reporter brought up the comparison between Reade and Ford’s coverage to Nancy Pelosi, the speaker defended the former vice president by saying, “Joe Biden is Joe Biden.”I hate to be the bearer of bad news here Madame Speaker, but if you Google “Joe Biden” your search will come up with photos of the vice president sniffing women’s hair.We know Joe Biden is Joe Biden. That is a huge part of his problem.In 2013, Mitch McConnell was arguing against the Democrats for invoking the nuclear option.
