In 2013 I was diagnosed with dust mite allergy among many others.After my diagnosis, I realized I had been suffering from allergies since I was young.Why did I put up with allergy symptoms for so long without addressing them?Well, I didn’t realize I had allergies.As a child, I visited a number of doctors.&nbsp; I was misdiagnosed by family doctors and dermatologist who never mentioned the possibility of allergies.&nbsp; I was given medicine and told that I’d “outgrow my symptoms”.My allergy symptoms gradually became worse.&nbsp; By the time I finished college much of my skin was covered rashes, I had little energy and always felt exhausted.My symptoms crept up on me began to affect my work, social life, and hobbies – especially exercise.In my late 20’s I was in bad shape. I participated in clinical studies for skin at the University of California San Diego and I was seen by allergy researchers at the University of Missouri yet neither institution helped identify and treat my allergies.&nbsp; Eventually, I decided to side-step the GPs and dermatologists and made an appointment with a specialist for allergy and immunotherapy.I was tested for dust mite allergy (among many other allergens) and the results confirmed why I had felt so ill for so long.I finally had answers and I set out on a mission to improve.In the months that followed my diagnosis, I read medical journals about allergies and worked closely with my allergist to adjust the way I was living.I’ve dedicated myself to improving my allergy symptoms and regaining my health.&nbsp; I’ve used a lot of products, including “quick fixes”, that didn’t work.&nbsp; I’ve lived 30 years with allergy symptoms so I know what works and what doesn’t.I created this blog to share my experience and relevant medical research.
