I had pumpkin on hand from another pumpkin recipe I was making and didn’t want it to go to waste, so I decided to add it to their ice cream rotation. Whether you want to treat your own dog or have dog friends coming into town for the holidays, don’t miss this pumpkin ice cream for dogs recipe. It goes without saying that Judy and Bill give it two paws up 🙂First things first before you make this, you’ll need to grab some cups to put the ice cream in and I promise you, getting these cups is the hardest part. I used to buy them at Christmas Tree Shops (RIP), but recently have found them online. Amazon has plastic cups with lids. They also have&nbsp;a reusable set&nbsp;if you plan to make these on a regular basis.Now that you have the hard part out of the way, it’s time to get busy in the kitchen. Pumpkin is considered a “superfood” for dogs and we’ve often used it when our dogs’ stomachs aren’t feeling great, so I didn’t hesitate to add it to this recipe. One thing worth noting (and can sometimes be confusing this time of year), pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie filler ARE NOT THE SAME. Pure pumpkin puree with no additives is the only ingredient that is safe for dogs. This is so important, so be sure to check labels!To make this Pumpkin Ice Cream For Dogs at home, you will need:3 bananas (I like to use super ripe)1/2 cup peanut butter (make sure there is no xylitol in it!)1 cup pumpkin puree. (so important not to use pumpkin pie filler!!)48oz plain Greek yogurt (For what it’s worth, this is the size they sell at Costco and it’s cheap!)1 cup waterOptional: Graham cracker toppers1. Blend your bananas until creamy using a hand mixer.2. Add in peanut butter and pumpkin and blend with bananas.3. Mix in the Greek yogurt until the mix is well combined.4. Add in 1 cup water to thin mixture.5. Pour the ice cream mix into the cups and add optional Graham cracker topping.6.
