For this project, I will be building an acoustic accent wall in our “toilet room.” This accent wall will be right behind our toilet and it will make this space look more high end and inviting. I got this idea from my friend Nicole from @simplyalignedhome and I absolutely love the way her wall turned out. This is an affordable and great beginner DIY Project. Let’s get started!Turn on your JavaScript to view contentInstead of buying 1×2 from Home Depot, we bought a plywood board and ripped it in 1 inch strips using the table saw. I preferred doing it this way because you get straight and thinner strips.Now that everything is cut, it’s time to sand! Sanding is important to smooth out the boards. I used a fine grit paper on the front of the slats to give it a nicer finish making sure the edges were flat.For the wall, we chose Behr Dynasty Paint in the color Herb Cornucopia. I love Behr Dynasty Paint because it is durable, stain repellant and scuff resistant. It also dries quickly and saves me time.We added frog tape on the sides but did not worry too much about the paint finish since the slats would be covering most of the wall.&nbsp;We cut the first board to size (We used a miter saw but a circular saw will work as well) and nailed it to the painted wall starting on the left and making sure it was level and flat against the side wall. When attaching the boards, we nailed in different directions to make sure the board would not come off the drywall; this is an important step if you are not nailing directly into the studs. We continued cutting and attaching the boards leaving a 1 inch gap in between.I love the way this wall looks already! To finish off this project, I covered the holes with Wood filler and touched them up with stain to give it a seamless look.&nbsp;It is amazing how a simple and quick project can transform a space.
