Our 2 night stay was gifted by Little VIllage Retreat and we were so grateful. Come check out how to travel to Southern Utah with Mike and Kelly – the Kanarraville Edition!I had heard of glamping before (high end camping) and wanted to take Mike on a quick getaway to try it out. So we headed to Southern Utah’s Little Village Retreat for 2 days and were totally recharged. It was calm, relaxing and beautiful. Check out our Youtube video for a quick recap here.We visited Little Village Retreat Glamping property and it was clean and comfortable. Every detail was thought of including hot cocoa, bbq grill, extra bedding and smores sticks. This is a locally owned property that was founded by a young family as a way to enjoy their hometown of Kanarraville, Utah. The town was founded in the 1800’s and still has the small town feel.They have 4 options to choose from and we stayed in Dome number 3. It was so roomy and opening up the window shades at night to watch the stars was our favorite! You can see the different options on their website here.The main reason we headed to this area of Utah was to hike Kanarra Falls. We had heard so many wonderful things about this 4 mile hike and it had been on my bucket list for some time. It did not disappoint!Here are a few tips that will be helpful if you want to try this hike out. You need to book tickets ahead of time because they only allow 150 visitors a day here and they are $12 each. Plan on 3-4 hours round trip and you must wear good shoes that can get wet. They will not allow flip flops. Bring plenty of water and wear sunscreen. Kids can do this hike as well, but some parts you may need to help them climb. It is not strenuous but does require balance as you wade through the water. Make sure you check the weather for flash flood warnings as well.We wore comfortable hiking clothes and hats to protect us from the sun. Additionally, good hiking/waterproof shoes are a must because the creek can get slippery. Some hikers had on sandals, but I noticed they came back with blisters. My Merrell hiking shoes worked so good and even when they were wet, I was super comfortable. It is small but carries a lot, and my phone sits in the front pocket which is my favorite.We love to find local spots to eat whenever we travel and it never disappoints. Try these places that we loved:Breakfast or Lunch at Silver Silos in Cedar City (the homemade donuts, green drink and breakfast wrap were delicious)Cold drinks and after hike snacks at Kanarraville Snack Shack (the fresh berry smoothie with homemade whip cream was so refreshing)Italian Dinner at Chef Alfredo’s Ristorante Italiano (we ordered the Lemon Chicken and Chicken Parmesan and it was so good)This mini vacation was so much fun and we loved recharging together in Kanarraville, Utah.
