Most states have issued stay-at-home or shelter-in-place orders, which will last until at least the beginning of the summer, and maybe longer. However, that hasn’t stopped me from planning dream vacation after dream vacation from the comfort of my couch!For some reason, Florida has been on my mind lately. I love daydreaming about the pristine white sandy beaches, the rolling green hills of the golf courses, and the endless adventurous outdoor activities that you can find in the Sunshine State. Without further ado, here are some of my favorite Florida vacation spots. Maybe they’ll inspire you to do some vacation planning of your own!Florida Keys The Florida Keys are a string of beautiful tropical islands trailing off the tip of Florida. They’re truly an island getaway, even though you’re still in the United States! I’ve always dreamed of spending a week in the luxurious , a beautiful resort tucked away on its own private island. You’ll have to charter a private plane or boat to get there, though, and their impeccably decorated private bungalows start at around $3000 for a weekend. Guess I’ll have to start saving my pennies... If you’re looking for something that still has all that island charm, but with a little bit more reasonable price tag, look no further than Key West. Key West is the most popular city in the Keys, and is well known for being home to Ernest Hemingway and quite a few famous bars up and down Duval Street. Relaxing island vibes and breathtaking coral reefs are some Key West’s main attractions.St. Augustine St. Augustine definitely has beautiful beaches, but the biggest reason it’s on my list is because of it’s fascinating history! I’m a huge history buff, and if learning a little while having lots of fun is your vacation speed, St. Augustine is for you.Founded in 1565 by Spanish settlers, it’s the oldest continuously inhabited city in the United States. While you’re there, you can tour the Castillo de San Marcos, a huge Spanish fort dating back to the 1670’s, and explore the city’s historic district. Many different architectural styles abound, showcasing St. Augustine’s varied history as a Spanish, British, and ultimately American city. You can even stay at the newly restored , originally opened in 1888 by , and experience the history for yourself! Naples Naples is another beautiful coastal city in Florida, facing west towards the Gulf of Mexico. Because it faces the Gulf, Naples has warmer, calmer water than other places in Florida and boasts the fine white “sugar” sand that everyone wants in their Instagram photos! Plus, after a day on the beach, you can spend your evenings at the famous Naples Pier, built in 1888, where locals go to watch the sunset and spot dolphins. Doesn’t that sound like a dream? In addition to their gorgeous beaches, Naples is well known for their many luxury golf courses. If golf is your favorite thing to do on vacation, you can’t miss . Founded in 1998 by , their award-winning Creek golf course and resort-style club and spa are to die for! Miami If nightlife is what you’re looking for when planning a vacation, look no further than Miami! This big city on the southern Florida coast has a famous party scene, so book a bar crawl tour (or two!) so you can get a taste of all it has to offer. In addition to the nightlife, Miami also has become somewhat of a foodie city! The strong Cuban and Carribean influences mixed with a little bit of southern flair come together for a distinctive and delicious Miami taste. Perhaps most famous is the Cubano, a mouth watering sandwich stacked high with sliced ham, swiss cheese, dill pickles, and dijon mustard. No matter what you’re looking for in a vacation, it seems like Florida has it! For now, I might be stuck in my living room, but eventually we’ll be able to travel again.
