RAY: BUT A DIFFICULT ONE ACCORDING TO THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE LACONIA MOTORCYCLE WEEK ASSOCIATION. THE IDEA OF NOT HOLDING THE EVENT THIS YEAR NEVER CROSSED THEIR MIND. &gt;&gt; THIS IS A VERY LARGE ECONOMIC BOOST TO THE STATE AND PEOPL EVERYWHERE, SO THERE WAS NO THOUGHT OF CANCELING AT ALL. RAY: AFTER TALKING WITH VENDORS AND SPONSORS ALONG WITH LOCA BUSINESSES, THE ALTERNATIVE DATE WAS CHOSEN. &gt;&gt; IT’S GONNA BE DIFFERENT AND DIFFICULT FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE TO GET HERE AS FAR AS VENDORS AND PEOPLE LIKE THAT BUT THEY WILL DO IT, THEY WILL BE HERE FOR THIS. RAY: AT CHANNEL COTTAGES, THEY’RE HOPING THAT COMES TRUE. THEIR 15 COTTAGES WERE COMPLETELY BOOKED FOR THE ORIGINAL WEEK, AND HE’S ALREADY HEARD FROM SOME GUESTS WILLING TO SWITCH. &gt;&gt; A LOT OF THE WEEKLY GUESTS ARE MOVING THEIR ENTIRE WEEK TO THAT WEEK IN AUGUST WHICH IS GREAT. RAY: THE MOTORCYCLE ASSOCIATION SAYS THE DATE WAS PICKED IN PART BECAUSE IT DIDN’T CONFLICT WITH ANY OTHER RALLIES AROUND THE COUNTRY, BUT ALSO BECAUSE IT IS TRADITIONALLY A TIME WHEN THE SUMMER SEASON IS SLOWING DOWN. &gt;&gt; THE WEEK THAT WAS CHOSEN TRADITIONALLY FALLS OFF QUITE A BIT IN ACCOMMODATIONS GOING DOWN WITH THE CHILDREN BACK TO SCHO THAT LAST WEEK OF AUGUST. That won't happen now, but many business owners said they're happy the event wasn't canceled altogether.The event has been moved from June 13 to Aug. 22. Charlie St. Clair, the executive director of the Laconia Motorcycle Week Association, said there were no plans to cancel the event."This is a very large economic boost to the state and people everywhere, so there was no thought of canceling at all," he said.After talking with vendors and sponsors, along with local businesses, organizers chose the alternative date."It's going to be different and difficult for a lot of people to get here, as far as vendors and people like that," St. Clair said, "But they'll do it.
