As someone who actually watched this episode with his wife when it came out, I can say that this article is spot on. We turned to each other when Aiden and "the jacket" were revealed. It was definitely a poor wardrobe choice for the return of a long awaited character, and unless the jacket itself becomes a plot point that Carrie tries to make him throw away, it was just a poor choice.
