The author compares today’s 'commoditized' health care service with the old covenant-style doctor-of-the-family service. He uses the comparison not to say one is better than the other, but to bring awareness to the fact that medicare should be a more intimate relationship, rather than the strictly commercial one we tend to be heading towards. He links to the sources of data he cites and provides good context to the reader.
