A nice article that gives prospective school teachers advice that is similar to what is taught to business professionals. Seek out the history, mission, and values of the organization first to see if it is a good fit. The most important part of the equation for making the "magic happen in the classroom" was missing, the culture of the students. The article failed to acknowledge the students that come from communities that do not value education and will never appreciate what the teacher does on behalf of the students. It is time to balance successful education on the backs of teaching staff and the students rather than leaving the full responsibility to the educators.
