Very interesting look at space debris. The article discusses space debris from several points of view. Content is focused on hazards in orbit. There were no solutions outside tired old regulations and bonds offered by anybody interviewed, such as private sector space cowboys collecting debris and selling it as historic space souvenirs. Another option could be patriotism. Russia, China, and the USA could have a space race to collect debris, bundle it, and fling it into the atmosphere for low orbit fire works display that celebrates space exploration from each nation. The article reads like hand wringing, expensive, kick the can down the road dilemma rather than fun solutions requiring the construction of autonomous debris collectors in space.
