The article brings up some concerns about the metaverse, and how the think tank OASIS plans to address issues as safety and privacy in virtual reality. They want to be the ones setting standards to hold platforms accountable, and they seemed a very well articulated group already negotiating with international governments and agencies to distribute these standards. The article is good, gives us a great context about the problems that are coming, but at the same time it looked like a press release for OASIS - their name are in every paragraph, and I do believe there are other companies thinking about similar solutions for the same problems.

Although there is nothing technically inaccurate about this piece, it definitely reads like a press release for OASIS which is clearly trying to assert itself as a gatekeeper or at least standard-bearer in the emerging metaverse. It seemed like the article threw out every possible negative social ill that could possibly result from social media and/or immersive tech, and kept coming back to OASIS as the solution without any analysis or realizatio to the fact that any social technology will inherently come with these social ills if people are allowed to interact freely.
