This is a good, brief explanation of some of the newest viruses and microbiomes being discovered frozen in the ice- in this case from China. Not to sound alarmist, but one of the most underrepresented arguments for why we need to combat climate change is that the melting ice will release potentially dangerous viruses, bacteria, and toxic gases that had otherwise been frozen in time.
