WEATHER ALERTTags:&nbsp;Sign up for our NewslettersTags:&nbsp;SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio’s Lulu’s Bakery &amp; Cafe, which closed in March 2020 as COVID-19 began its surge in the U.S., has shut its doors for good.The local food icon has placed all of its items up for auction in a liquidation sale by RCI Online Auctions.“A San Antonio icon has closed and all equipment, fixtures and furniture (and T-Shirts!) are being offered in an absolute auction,” the listing by RCI states.The online auction, which touts everything from double fryers to “Thank you” bags to cabinets to frying oil, is open and ends at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Inspection day is Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.As of Tuesday morning, some of the items with pricier bids include a dessert cabinet for more than $350, a soda fountain for more than $200 and a large capacity deep fryer for more than $200.Quirky items include menu boards, awards and shirts with “Check Out These Buns” on them, a nod to its famous 3-pounds cinnamon rolls that have been made famous by reality TV.Before its closure, Lulu’s was a staple at the intersection of North Main Avenue and East Euclid Avenue and was featured in shows like “Man v. Food.”Singer Nick Jonas also to promote his song “Bacon.”The restaurant’s Facebook page has not posted an update since November, and before then posted that it would reopen when it is safe to do so.KSAT has reached out to Lulu’s for comment and has yet to hear back.
