By | | Bay Area News GroupOAKLAND — A Fremont man who recently moved to California from Louisiana has been charged with killing and robbing another Louisiana native, in a bizarre incident that started when the suspect, victim and a second man who was robbed were all driving in the same car, authorities said.Bryson McIntyre, 29, was arrested in Fremont this week on suspicion of killing 27-year-old Ijah Baptiste in an April 8 shooting in Oakland. McIntyre also faces charges of robbing Baptiste of three pounds of methamphetamine, drugs that were allegedly found on McIntyre when he was arrested.At the time of the killing McIntyre was out on $50,000 bail facing felony charges of gun possession and threatening a mechanic at a Fremont gas station; McIntyre allegedly told the victim he’d be shot if he failed to fix a gold BMW that McIntyre was driving. In that incident, police say McIntyre made it clear he wasn’t bluffing; he allegedly told the mechanic about “getting away with double and triple homicides” in the past, according to court records.Baptiste was shot and killed around 3:35 p.m. April 8, outside a home in the 9800 block of Stanley Avenue in Oakland. Police say that McIntyre was driving Baptiste and another man when he abruptly stopped the car, got out and pulled a gun on the other two men. After robbing them of the three pounds of meth and other undisclosed items, McIntyre allegedly shot Baptiste multiple times then fired at the second victim as he ran away, police said in court records.When he was arrested, McIntyre allegedly admitted to driving with the victims before the shooting. Prosecutors formally charged him with murder, robbery, attempted murder and drug possession on Thursday. The charging records allege he has four prior aggravated battery convictions and a decade-old nonfatal shooting conviction, all in Louisiana.When he was arrested in February in the case of the threats, police allegedly found McIntyre in possession of a gun that had been reported stolen out of Florida. He reportedly told police he’d recently moved to the Bay Area.McIntyre is in Santa Rita Jail on a no-bail hold. His first court appearance is set for Friday.Police say there doesn’t appear to be a connection between McIntyre and another Louisiana native, Marcus “Hitler” Etienne, who last year was sentenced to life in federal prison for ordering a man murdered in Oakland.
