"It is not the way I've been trained, or what I learned, or how I've developed my experience in practice, so it's just, it's very disappointing"House Bill 1570 prohibits a doctor from providing gender-confirming hormone treatment or surgery to minors.The sponsor of the bill said the measure would protect children from life-altering treatments, but opponents said it would do more harm than good to transgender youth.Trans-rights activist, Willow Brashears, is 18 years old. She said she started her transition at the age of 13. "If I had not started hormones at that age I probably would not be where I am today." Brashears said. "That was definitely life saving for me. And, you know, it was the right choice for me. And knowing that decision was made between me, my family and my doctor."House bill 1570 will go into effect 90 days after the last day of the legislative session.
