Anecdotal Evidence

In this article, the author makes the claim that women journalists who critique Elon Musk, fairly or unfairly, will be swarmed by “MuskBros” who are hateful, sexist, foul-mouthed young white men. My issue with this article is that whenever anyone on the internet attracts the attention of 21M+ people (Musk’s Twitter following), some amount of the responses will be crass, rude, inappropriate, sexist, gross, etc. So cherry-picking anecdotal examples of such responses, as bad as they are, amongst what I'm sure was a much bigger collection of responses, is not scientifically significant, but rather a couple of data points that need to be appreciated as only a small fraction of the whole. My own opinion is that while the author claims to not want the attention she gets when criticizing Musk, I can't help but feel like she is enjoying the amount of clicks, likes, traffic, and mentions she's getting for putting out this story.
