Parts of the Bay Area experienced record-high temperatures in recent days, a sign of the warming trend that will likely continue through the end of the week before the region cools off to some rain.Afternoon temperatures in San Francisco reached 81 degrees Wednesday, surpassing the previous record — 80 degrees — set in 2011. The high in Gilroy was 87 on Wednesday, one degree hotter than the previous record set in 2003. Dry conditions and warm temperatures continued Thursday, with some areas experiencing above-average highs.Daytime highs in the inland areas reached the low-80s Thursday, nearly 20 degrees above what’s typical for early April, according to the National Weather Service.Coastal temperatures Friday will be about 10 degrees cooler, but inland areas such as Dublin, Concord and Gilroy likely will stay warm throughout the day. Overall, temperatures will become more seasonal through Sunday, with a 20-degree difference between Thursday and Saturday, National Weather Service meteorologist Drew Peterson said.A slight chance of rain is expected next week, particularly in the North Bay, Peterson said.“California is a feast or famine state when it comes to precipitation,” Peterson said. “It’s very unlikely beyond April to see much rain at all.
