Patrons must be seated when eating or drinking, and groups must be limited to six people per party. The move lines up with Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s reopening plan for the state. Last year the teams played in empty stadiums due to the COVID-19 pandemic.The Cubs play their home opener Thursday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.Rooftop venues appear to be selling tickets, along with listing cleaning protocols and other guidelines on their sites. Guidelines to Wrigley View Rooftop say patrons will be given a temperature check, and masking and social distancing will be enforced, among other precautions.Wrigley Rooftops, the Cubs-affiliated company that owns most of the rooftops around the stadium, says on its website the company will “continue to work in close coordination with MLB, top health experts and local officials to advance our health and safety protocols.”The Ricketts family, which owns the team, acquired most of the rooftops surrounding the stadium in a series of deals from January 2015 through February 2017. The Cubs collect 17% of revenue from the few remaining rooftops that are not affiliated with the team, as part of a 20-year agreement reached in 2004.
