That's the most cases in a single day since Feb. 24 and the highest active total since Feb. 28.Gov. Chris Sununu ascribed the increase to COVID-19 fatigue, some increased gathering activity among young people and an overall more lax approach to pandemic guidance in the general population.He said the key stats to watch are still hospitalizations and deaths. Five more Granite Staters have died of COVID-19, while current hospitalizations dipped to 75, health officials said. There have been 16 deaths announced in the past week.One of the big changes is that the majority of those deaths are community-based rather than being linked to long-term care facilities. Health officials are urging people to not become too complacent because if the positive trends the state had been seeing over the past few weeks are reversed, that would slow the pace of reopening.
