It's an opinion piece. And, a decidedly strident one at that. A bit too harsh, in my opinion, for the more mild of sensibility. Nevertheless, the Author makes the case with aplomb and verve. No quibbles in that regard. My speculation would be that this piece was written for the consumption of a particular audience rather than a more panoramic readership. 'Tis worth mentioning that it's an easy read, not especially dense, and is gotten through fairly quickly. For the broadly inquisitive the work is worthwhile, for others, less so.
