As reports, a new safety feature called "Item Safety Alerts" was spotted in a beta release of iOS 14.5. With the app and Apple's rumored AirTags trackers, Item Safety Alerts would notify users if an unknown item was found to be moving with them.That "unknown item" would mean an AirTag not registered to the person's Apple ID. The concern is that a bad actor could toss an AirTag into a bag or car and track the owner's whereabouts without their knowledge.For those unconcerned with AirTags or those who might share them with others in their household, alerts can be turned off, 9to5Mac says. Before doing so, there's a warning from Apple letting users know they'll no longer receive notifications for any unidentified items.Apple has yet to unveil AirTags. They're said to be similar to third-party Bluetooth item tracker Tile, which attach to an item and can be tracked via the Tile application.
