Lack of Reliable Sources
September 1, 2019
I'm a little skeptical of the depth of reporting put into this piece because of the way sources are being cited. For example, there's an important quote that is unlinked and attributed broadly to "the CIA", saying that in some cases U.S. AI can predict "social unrest and societal instability." When the author discusses China's AI, Abishur Prakash simply says "according to one source" when attributing the information. Unfortunately, this kind of vague sourcing makes me question the validity of the entire piece.
