COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb County District Attorney Flynn Broady Jr. is launching an investigation into the business dealings of the Cobb County School District.A district attorney spokesperson told Channel 2 investigative producer Terah Boyd the office will not comment on an active investigation.The probe comes after a Channel 2 Action News investigation Sources with direct knowledge of the probe told Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Chris Jose that a group of whistleblowers met with Broady on Wednesday.Prosecutors will interview the group individually next week, sources said.Sources told Jose that Broady wants an outside agency, either the Georgia Bureau of Investigation or the Georgia Attorney General, to handle the case.RELATED STORIES:The connection to south Florida involves Anthony “Tony” Hunter. He’s the former chief information officer for Broward County Public Schools.A bill of indictment shows unlawful compensation and bid tampering charges.Hunter is accused of bypassing the bidding process for school equipment and steering business to a friend.Hunter’s friend is Kennesaw businessman David Allen.Before Allen died from Covid-19 last month, he helped start up three companies the Cobb County School District has awarded millions to for services.Hunter pleaded not guilty.
