An investigative piece from ProPublica in their inimitable style. Well-written and sourced, providing a wealth of information regarding the referenced issue. Many prospective readers may not even be aware that such "strategies" exist. Without commenting on the rightness or wrongness of pursuing such an action, it can be said that the article points up the many factors, variables, and conundrums that many face when confronting how to fund higher education. A worthwhile read that is well-placed contextually in the discussion of higher education funding currently taking place in political circles.

I really enjoyed the read, especially ,as a father of (soon) 2 kids, college expenses is something that is currently unbearable for the average-Joe family. Facts are present, commentary is present, college price is real. Good read. Good info

This article has a very clear agenda of pushing the idea that paying for an education is somehow unfathomably expensive. This does not present information that shows the counter point, it only provides commentary from people trying to manipulate the system to incur less debt. These people are going into professions that can easily afford to pay for the debt.

This is another good investigative piece on the issue of college affordability and the guardianship loophole some families are having to turn to. I believe it was ProPublica that broke this story in the first place, and I'm glad to see them following up with more. I agree with reviewer Jacob B. that the article presents colleges as generally unaffordable, but I also think that'd be something hard to argue with today and something that is becoming more and more obvious to families trying to put their children through university.
