Police have said Castillo was visiting a friend in the friend’s apartment.Moro and Rodriguez — both members of the Latin Kings — were upstairs in the same building. When the acquaintance went upstairs to get water and Rodriguez saw the new haircut, Rodriguez grew enraged, “indicating it was a Two-Six cut,” Eggleston said. Rodriguez went downstairs and asked Castillo about his gang affiliation, and when he said he was a Two-Six, Rodriguez began to punch him in the face.AdvertisementHe “began to yell that he hates Two-Six and a Two-Six killed his boy,” Eggleston said.Castillo ran out of the house and down the block, followed by Moro, who chased him for a block and a half before opening fire in the 6300 block of South Richmond Street, Eggleston said. Castillo fell to the ground, shot multiple times.When Moro was asked what he had just done, he laughed, Eggleston said. Moro ran into the house and Rodriguez ran out, then punched Castillo as he lay dying, she said.Rodriguez then hid in the trunk of a Chevy Malibu; witnesses on the scene pointed that out to police and identified Moro as the gunman.Police saw blood on the Malibu and shattered the window to open the trunk, then took Rodriguez into custody, Eggleston said. Moro was arrested back at the residence.The shooting itself was captured on surveillance video, and the footage also shows Castillo trying to get up off the ground before Rodriguez comes up and starts to punch him. Shell casings from the scene matched the gun that was found in the trunk of the car where Rodriguez was hiding, prosecutors said.Castillo was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 9:16 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy determined Castillo died of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.Moro was out on bond in a reckless firearm discharge case at the time of his arrest. He lives with his grandmother and works construction, his attorney said.
